In January 2019 Brilliant Stages was engaged by The Hepworth to work on their new exhibition, Magdalene Odundo: The Journey of Things, designed by the award winning practice Farshid Moussavi Architecture.
The process involved working closely with the chief curator, Andrew Bonacina, the architects at Farshid Moussavi Architecture and the team at Tadelakt London, who were appointed to apply a Tadelakt plaster finish to complete the structures.
Calling on the skills of our Scenic Labs©, we created a multitude of plinths, levels and islands to form a beautifully designed landscape. These were used to display a vast amount of vessels by Magdalene Odundo alongside a large selection of historic and contemporary objects chosen from around the globe that have informed the development of her unique work.
Our involvement in the project was completed in a little under 4 weeks and we think the collaborative results are stunning.
Brilliant Stages and Production Park has a long-standing relationship with The Hepworth Wakefield after sponsoring the inaugural Hepworth Prize for Sculpture in 2016 and working on projects such as Disobedient Bodies: JW Anderson Curates The Hepworth Wakefield in 2017.
We were delighted to have to opportunity to work with the gallery again on another exciting project.
