The Scenic Labs Complete Work For The Hepworth’s Latest Exhibition: Magalene Odundo

13 February 2019

In January 2019, The Scenic Labs was engaged by The Hepworth Wakefield to work on their new exhibition, Magdalene Odundo: The Journey of Things, designed by the award winning practice Farshid Moussavi Architecture.

The process involved working closely with the chief curator, Andrew Bonacina, the architects at Farshid Moussavi Architecture and the team at Tadelakt London, who were appointed to apply a Tadelakt London plaster finish to complete the structures.

Calling on the skills of our carpentry and scenic workshop, we created a multitude of plinths, levels and islands to form a beautifully designed landscape. These were used to display a vast amount of vessels by Magdalene Odundo alongside a large selection of historic and contemporary objects chosen from around the globe that have informed the development of her unique work.

Our involvement in the project was completed in a little under 4 weeks and we think the collaborative results are stunning.
